西安邮电大学是陕西省与工信部共建公办普通高校，以工为主、信息科技为核心特色，多学科协调发展，是我国西北地区信息产业与现代邮政业重要的人才培养和科研基地。学校始建于1950年，历经西安邮电学校、西安邮电学院发展阶段，2012年更名大学，2021年获批博士学位授予单位，2025年取得研究生推免资格，办学层次完备。

科研平台实力雄厚，建有2个国家级工程实验室、29个省部级重点实验室与研究中心。聚焦信息领域技术攻关，斩获2项国家科技进步二等奖，主导形成信息安全领域我国首个国际标准“虎符TePA”；近年来承担国家级、省部级科研项目600余项，获各级科技奖励160余项；发表论文16000余篇，其中SCI、EI收录3500余篇，取得专利及软件著作权1300余项，出版教材著作460余部。学校坚持开放办学，与国内外知名高校、行业龙头企业深度合作。建校75年来，秉持“爱国、求是、奋进”校训，为行业培育十万余名骨干人才，全力建设特色鲜明、国内一流的高水平邮电大学。
Xi’an University of Posts and Telecommunications (XUPT) is a public university co‑built by the Shaanxi Provincial Government and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Prioritizing engineering with information science and technology as its core feature, it pursues coordinated development of multiple disciplines and serves as an important base for talent training and scientific research for the information and modern postal industries in Northwest China. Founded in 1950, it evolved from Xi’an Posts and Telecommunications School and later Xi’an Institute of Posts and Telecommunications. It was renamed a university in 2012, granted the qualification to confer doctoral degrees in 2021, and obtained the postgraduate recommendation qualification in 2025, boasting a complete education system.
Located in the southern suburbs of Xi’an, the university has two campuses: Yanta and Chang’an. It delivers outstanding disciplinary strength with 3 first‑level discipline doctoral programs and 16 first‑level discipline master programs. Information and Communication Engineering ranks first among provincial‑affiliated universities in Shaanxi. Engineering and Computer Science are among the global top 5‰ in the ESI rankings, and multiple disciplines are listed in world‑class and national first‑class discipline rankings. The university has a strong faculty with various high‑level talents and a sound talent‑cultivation system. It offers a variety of innovative experimental classes, advances the construction of emerging engineering education, and has achieved fruitful teaching outcomes with distinctive innovation and entrepreneurship education.
It is equipped with solid scientific‑research platforms, including 2 national‑level engineering laboratories and 29 provincial‑ministerial key laboratories and research centers. Focusing on key technological breakthroughs in the information sector, the university has won two Second‑class Prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and led the formulation of “Tiger‑Symbol TePA”, China’s first international standard in the field of information security. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 600 national and provincial‑ministerial research projects and won over 160 scientific and technological awards at various levels. Its faculty have published over 16,000 papers, among which more than 3,500 are indexed by SCI and EI, obtained more than 1,300 patents and software copyrights, and published over 460 textbooks and academic works. Adhering to open‑door education, the university carries out in‑depth cooperation with well‑known domestic and foreign universities and leading industrial enterprises. Over its 75‑year history, upholding the school motto of “Patriotism, Truth‑seeking and Endeavor”, XUPT has cultivated more than 100,000 backbone professionals for relevant industries and is striving to build a high‑level university of posts and telecommunications with distinctive features and national standing.
